Jean-Yannick Liatis is a French citizen, first educated at the Paris Universities of Assas where he trained as a Lawyer in Business & Tax Law and at the Sorbonne where he studied Industrial Economics. He was then admitted at St Antony’s College, Oxford and then requested to be transferred to the LSE in London as a PhD candidate in Transportation Economics.
Starting his career in London at Nomura Research Institute as a Strategist, he trained as a Financial Analyst and after a brief period spent in Tokyo he then moved on to Equity Sales at Paribas London in 1989 from where he was sent to New-York in 1994, where he developed a wide network among both US Value and Growth investors.
He was then appointed Head of Equity Research at Paribas in Paris in 1998 and joined CACIB ( then Credit Lyonnais Securities) in 2000, returning to New-York as Managing Director of Brokerage for North America. He was invited in 2004 to join KeplerCapital Markets as a Partner in Paris where he stayed until 2013, when he founded SAGA Investment Advisors which advised Bryan Garnier&Co for 10 years on Growth matters.
With an uninterrupted 35 years career in Financial Services and expertise in cash equity and derivatives, he has built his experience on 3 continents (NA, Europe, Asia). He has a truly multicultural profile which enables him to think “global”, to better understand people and address them in a way which makes management and internal communication smooth and efficient.
From his various positions in North America, he was the “face” of the Banking Institutions he represented which offered him the opportunity of interacting directly with CEO/CFOs and share their concerns about the marketplace and institutional investors’ demands. It is from such experience that he developed a wide network of C-suite contacts, especially among European SMID Corporates and a taste for Consulting which makes him very comfortable with Board-level duties about which he has prior experience, serving as an independent administrator on the Board of a listed company.
